Overview

Embark on a transformative 7-day Buddhist pilgrimage through Nepal, tracing the sacred footsteps of Lord Buddha across serene monasteries, ancient stupas, and spiritually charged landscapes. This journey offers a rare opportunity to explore the origins of Buddhism and connect deeply with its teachings—right from the vibrant heart of Kathmandu to the tranquil birthplace of Buddha in Lumbini.

Begin your spiritual exploration in Kathmandu, where centuries of devotion echo through sacred landmarks. Visit the iconic Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), one of the oldest and most revered Buddhist sites in Nepal, perched atop a hill with sweeping views of the valley. Pay homage at the magnificent Boudhanath Stupa, a center of Tibetan Buddhist practice, surrounded by spinning prayer wheels, incense, and chanting monks. Deepen your understanding at renowned monasteries such as Kopan Monastery, known for its teachings in the Mahayana tradition and welcoming atmosphere for visitors and practitioners alike, and the Shechen Monastery, a beautifully restored Tibetan monastery that preserves the Nyingma tradition. Also explore White Monastery (Seto Gumba), nestled in the hills for panoramic views and peaceful meditation, and Pullahari Monastery, a hidden gem known for its quiet grounds and spiritual ambiance.

From the Kathmandu Valley, journey to the hilltop retreat of Namo Buddha, one of the most sacred Buddhist pilgrimage sites in Nepal. It is believed to be the site where Buddha, in a previous life, offered his body to a starving tigress—an act of ultimate compassion. Explore the serene Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery and soak in the peaceful surroundings ideal for contemplation and prayer.

Travel south to the sacred land of Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, where you will walk through the Sacred Garden, meditate at the Maya Devi Temple, stand beside the historic Ashokan Pillar, and explore beautifully crafted monasteries in the international monastic zone—each representing the spiritual diversity of Buddhist traditions worldwide.

Further immerse yourself in the Buddha’s early life with excursions to Kapilvastu, the site of his childhood palace, and Devdaha, the maternal home of Queen Maya Devi. These ancient sites offer deeper insight into the Buddha's journey from royal comfort to spiritual awakening.

Whether you seek spiritual insight, historical depth, or quiet reflection, this carefully curated journey through Nepal’s Buddhist heartland is designed to inspire, ground, and uplift. Walk the sacred path and return with not just memories—but a deeper connection to peace, compassion, and the timeless teachings of the Buddha

01
  • Arrival in Kathmandu – Land of Living Spirituality Upon arrival in Kathmandu, our team will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel.
  • After settling in, begin your spiritual journey with a visit to the legendary Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple. Perched atop a hill overlooking the city, Swayambhunath is one of the oldest and most sacred sites in Nepal—revered by both Buddhists and Hindus alike. According to local legend, the stupa marks the spot where the valley was once a great lake, and a lotus flower bloomed—symbolizing the spontaneous rise of wisdom.
  • In the evening, experience the serene and sacred energy of the Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest stupas in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A central pilgrimage destination for Tibetan Buddhists, Boudhanath is more than a monument—it's a living spiritual center. Locals, monks, and pilgrims gather here every evening for kora (ritual circumambulation), spinning prayer wheels and lighting butter lamps in an atmosphere of collective devotion. As the sun sets and the stupa glows in golden light, you’ll witness the harmonious blending of faith, culture, and daily life that defines Nepal’s spiritual identity.
  • After your cultural exploration, you will be guided to your hotel by our representative.
  • Overnight stay in the hotel in Kathmandu
  • 02
  • Monasteries and Meditation After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, devote the day to exploring some of the most important Buddhist monasteries in the Kathmandu Valley, where centuries of spiritual coexistence between Buddhism and Hinduism have shaped Nepal’s unique religious harmony. In Nepal, Buddhism and Hinduism are deeply intertwined—many Nepalese people practice both traditions side by side. Deities are shared, festivals are celebrated together, and sacred spaces often serve followers of both faiths. Today’s visits highlight the depth of Buddhist philosophy, meditation practices, and the living heritage of Tibetan traditions that thrive within Nepal.
  • A scenic 2.5 hr drive will take you to Namo Buddha via Dhulikhel. Namo Buddha is known as one of the holiest Buddhist sites, where it is believed Lord Buddha offered his body to a starving tigress and her cubs in a past life.
  • Kopan Monastery: After your start of the day from Namo Buddha, visit this peaceful hilltop monastery, renowned for its courses on Mahayana Buddhism and meditation. Overlooking the Kathmandu Valley, Kopan is a center for both spiritual seekers and scholars from around the world. It offers a perfect introduction to the compassion-based teachings of the Buddha.
  • Shechen Monastery: Next, visit one of the six main Nyingma monasteries outside Tibet, beautifully reconstructed after the cultural revolution. Shechen is not just a monastery but a hub for education, ritual arts, and Tibetan spiritual preservation. The architecture, murals, and monastic activities offer deep insights into the oldest school of Tibetan Buddhism.
  • Seto Gumba (White Monastery): Perched on a quiet hillside, this newer yet spiritually charged monastery is known for its peaceful atmosphere, colorful murals, and panoramic views of the city. It is a place of visual beauty and meditative silence, ideal for introspection and prayer.
  • Pullahari Monastery: End your monastic tour with this tranquil and lesser-known monastery, affiliated with the Karma Kagyu lineage. Its serene gardens, traditional chants, and peaceful environment make it a powerful space for spiritual reflection, far from the bustle of city life. Return in the evening to the majestic Boudhanath Stupa, one of the most important Tibetan Buddhist pilgrimage sites in the world. As prayer flags flutter and monks chant around you, join in the kora (ritual circumambulation), light a butter lamp, and absorb the deeply spiritual atmosphere. This moment of collective devotion among Buddhists and Hindus alike reflects the inclusive and harmonious soul of Nepal.
