Overview

The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek offers a captivating journey through Nepal's scenic landscapes. It starts with an arrival in Kathmandu, where visitors are welcomed traditionally and can explore the bustling Thamel district. A comprehensive city tour covers cultural and historical landmarks such as Patan, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, and Swayambhunath. Travelers then drive to Pokhara, known for its serene Phewa Lake and relaxed atmosphere. The trek begins from Nayapul, with a relatively easy walk to Tikledhunga, followed by a challenging yet rewarding hike to Ghorepani, offering stunning views of the Annapurna peaks. An early morning trek to Poon Hill provides breathtaking sunrise views of the Himalayan range, followed by a trek to Ghandruk Village, rich in Gurung culture and natural beauty. The descent to Pokhara includes a stop in Birethani before reaching Nayapul, where travelers can relax and recharge. The journey concludes with a flight back to Kathmandu.

The package includes local transport, accommodation in Kathmandu and Pokhara, guided sightseeing tours, trek permits, meals during the trek, and experienced guides and porters. Exclusions are international airfare, Nepal entry visa fees, personal expenses, and insurance.

Itinerary

STARTING OF THE TOUR

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be escorted to your hotel by a Snowyoda representative where you will check in with a traditional welcome. You can also take a stroll around Kathmandu which depends on your mood and condition. At night, we take you the tourist hub of Kathmandu, 'Thamel' where you will be treated with a traditional dinner and a chance to do some shopping.

KATHMANDU SIGHTSEEING AND TREK PREPARATION

Meet our local guide for a full day city tour of Kathmandu. You will be visiting Patan, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath and Swayambhunath which all are rich in culture, heritage and picturesque beauty. Dinner and overnight in hotel.

DRIVE TO POKHARA

Post breakfast drive to Pokhara. On arrival in Pokhara you will be instantly awed by the Phewa Lake and the laid back atmosphere it has on offer. We will use this day as rest to enjoy Pokhara and the serene environment which comes along with it. If time permits we can go for some sightseeing including Davids Falls and the Mahendra Caves.

DRIVE TO NAYAPUL AND TREK TO TIKLEDHUNGA

After having breakfast and a brief rest we start our trek . The trek starts from Nayapul which is about one and half hour drive from Pokhara. The first day is relatively easy as you will find yourself just walking uphill on a gravel road. Soon afterwards the road gets transformed to a trail and we cross the Modi Khola (river) and reach Tikledhunga. This will be our final destination for the day as we check into a lodge and have dinner. (Total trekking time for today 5-6 hours)

TIKLEDHUNGA TO GHOREPANI

We wake up early on Day 3 around ( 7am ) have breakfast and start our trek . The days hike is quite challenging as you keep walking straight towards the mountain for about 4 hours which provides a stern test of your stamina. But it is rewarding as well as you catch picturesque views of the white snow capped Annapurna peaks. We stop for lunch in between and after an hours rest we set off for Ghorepani which is about 3 hours of hiking. Ghorepani is divided into a upper and a lower part . We stop at the upper part which has superb panoramic views of the Annapurna range and the surrounding mountains. Overnight at Ghorepani

GHOREPANI TO GHANDRUK

We wake up early at 5 am to head towards the majestic Poon Hill which is about a 45 minutes hike to catch the sunrise. After reaching the top of Poon Hill we welcome the magnificent views of Annapurna (8091M) , Dhaulagiri (8167M) and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail mountain ,6993 M) . This view is the focal point of the Ghorepani-Poonhill Trekking route and you can spend hours just amazed by it. The rugged snowy peaks towering above us covered in splashes of red of the sun is just the thing that brings so many tourists to this route. We return to Ghorepani and after having breakfast and some rest we embark further towards the direction of Ghandruk Village. From here onwards you are continuously splashed with wonderful views of the mountains and it would be hard to stop yourself from stopping every instance and click some photos. You will pass along a parallel ridge and some downhill routes into dense rhododendron forests and waterfalls . We finally reach Ghandruk Village which is inhabited by the Gurung people and is mostly occupied with stone houses. You can also spend time in some sight-seeing which involves a museum, a temple and a monastery. The views are again amazing and you would just want to watch the mountains forever.

RETURN TO POKHARA

Today we embark on our descent towards Pokhara which is about 13.2 kms . We stop for lunch in Birethani and relax for a while for the final small hike to Nayapul which is only 2kms away now. After reaching Pokhara, we check into our hotel and you are suggested to rest as the toll of the trek on your body starts becoming visible. You can also have a massage in town and recharge yourselves.

RETURN TO KATHMANDU AND END OF TOUR

We catch an early flight to Kathmandu . Tour ends with a memorable SNOWYODA experience.
